The 30-year-old right-hander will receive a salary of $21.05 million next season. He could also add an amount of $2.5 million in performance bonuses.
Buehler leaves the Los Angeles Dodgers after being the team's first-round pick (24th) in 2015. He won two World Series titles (2020 and 2024) with Los Angeles.
Buehler's career has been full of ups and downs. He participated in two All-Star Games, but also underwent two Tommy John surgeries. The first took place while he was still in high school and the second in 2022.
After missing the entire 2023 season to recover from this second surgery, Buehler had an extremely difficult season in 2024. In 16 starts, he was 1-6 with an earned run average of 5 .38. He struck out 64 batters in 75 1/3 innings.
The Gunner, however, stood up at the right time for the Dodgers. Buehler has been reliable in the postseason with a 3.60 ERA in 15 innings of work. In the World Series, he did not allow a single run to the New York Yankees in six innings, striking out seven batters.
Buehler had the best season of his career in 2021, finishing fourth in the National Cy Young Trophy. He then had a record of 16-4 thanks to an excellent earned run average of 2.47.
