After a first notable appearance at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games – which had caused a lively controversy – Philippe Katerine made his return this Saturday to the Place de l’Étoile on the occasion of the concert organized on the sidelines of the champions’ parade on the Champs-Élysées. Almost naked and tinged with blue, the singer once again sang Not, helped by the weightlifters of the French team.

A performance censored in several countries
During his first performance, the singer saw his performance censored in some countries, such as the United States, where NBC sent commercials and images of the American team. The Moroccan public channel SNRT also skipped the sequence in favor of images of the city of Paris. Embarrassed and even outraged reactions were also observed in Australia and China.
“If there was no controversy, it wouldn’t be funny. If everyone agreed and had the same opinion, what a bore on this Earth, it would be another fascism,” the singer assured BFMTV the day after his performance.
