Around fifty people showed up on Saturday evening for the boxing gala. An unusual event in the archipelago and a great first for the twenty amateur fighters.
It is the culmination of twelve weeks of relentless training. This “Clash of the Titans”, the title of the evening organized by the Saint-Pierraise Olympic Boxing School, was an opportunity to reward the work of the twenty amateur boxers.
Saturday evening, the ring heated up with no less than three hours of duels, interspersed with around ten karate fights. Because the show was put on in partnership with the Karate Club Saint-Pierrais.
I'm really happy with the technical aspect and the fair play I saw in the ring. They were friends who were fighting each other. The boxing was beautiful, it was clean.
Claude Momerency, coach of the Saint-Pierraise Olympic Boxing School
Some boxers came from afar and had never boxed before the season started in September. So this Saturday evening it was “leisure educational assault boxing”, which means that the fighters must not harm their opponents. Any violent behavior can be punished.

After 35 years of existence, the Saint-Pierre boxing club is doing well. Beyond performance, its president Roger Hélène is looking for boxers interested in competition to travel to Newfoundland, New Brunswick or Quebec. This would be an opportunity to reconnect with the Fédération Québécoise de Boxe Olympique with which the club was affiliated for around thirty years.
