How Standard's attacking duo could have cracked down on another Pro League club: “We weren't convinced” – Tout le football

Andi Zeqiri and Dennis Ayensa are doing better and better at Standard. Another club looked at their profile this summer.

One was stuck at Genk, the other at Union Saint-Gilloise. By joining a Standard wishing to strengthen itself with free or loan players, Andi Zeqiri and Dennis Ayensa have found playing time and a coach who lets them grow at the forefront of the attack.

If Zeqiri stood out more often with 7 goals and 3 assists, Ayensa remains valuable with his calls, his free runs which free up space for others.

Westerlo also inquired about them this summer. But neither deal was finalized. Concerning Ayensa, it was the Campinois leaders who did not follow up. “We were not convinced,” CEO Hasin Centinkaya bluntly admits to Gazet van Antwerpen. THE Standard was therefore less choosy.

The vagaries of the transfer window

The Zeqiri case, also coveted by Charleroi, was more delicate: “He only wanted to come as a starting player. We had Matija Frigan and we were looking for a replacement for him. In these conditions, he did not want to come. During This time, Frigan has gained minutes. He is the club's biggest investment (5.5 million editor's note) and we are happy with his progress.

Zeqiri must have had a moving thought for the Campinois leaders when he scored against Westerlo a few weeks ago. But the visitors quickly found their smile again thanks to a double… from Matija Frigan.
