An exchange with Arnaud Bodart? Anthony Moris sets the record straight – All football

Anthony Moris has been linked with a return to Standard this summer. But he reaffirms his love for the Union.

It was one of the summer soap operas: where was Arnaud Bodart going to sign? The rumor of an exchange with Anthony Moris shook the supporters of Union Saint-Gilloise and Standard. But the two goalkeepers ultimately remained on their own.

If Moris certainly did not see a stay at Standard as a bad thing (he was trained there, made his professional debut there and still lives in the Liège region), his plan was absolutely not to leave Parc Duden.

“When I saw the newspaper which was talking about this deal, I went straight to the management of the Union: they swore to me that there was nothing concrete… and that they had just tested the field in the event of my departure, but that I remained their priority: I felt they were sincere and I closed this chapter” he explains to RTBF.

Another year and a half of contract

Moris feels like a fish in water in Saint-Gilles: “There has never been a concrete offer from Standard. And for my part, it was never a question: sportingly and humanly, I found in the Union the perfect club and whose current project is bigger than that of Standard. I'm captain here, I have everyone's respect and I'm playing in the European Cup.”

“But I'm not naive: it's the business world, people are there to do business. Sometimes deals work, sometimes they don't. You know, as a footballer, you can have all the career plans you want , they fly into the air overnight,” he concludes.
