HC Delémont-Vallée lost its first match after the separation from its coach Gilles Voirol. With their technical director Gabriel Meusy at the helm, the Jurassiens lost 4-3 on penalties on the ice of Forward Morges, Saturday evening, in the 1st ice hockey league championship. Facing a direct opponent in the fight for survival, they got off to a bad start and conceded the opener after five minutes of play. Fortunately, the reaction was immediate and Cyril Taillard equalized three minutes later. The Vaudois took the lead again in the second third after returning from the locker room, but Thibaut Henry put the two teams back on level terms in the 45th minute, while HCDV played five against three. The Vadais conceded another goal in the 50th, but remained focused and managed to come back to 3-3 thanks to Swen Meusy, once again in numerical superiority (55th). Ultimately, the decision was made on penalties. The Phantoms failed to score and lost the session 1-0.
HCDV remains 11th and penultimate in the 1st league. It is six units from 9th place occupied by Saastal, a rank which allows them to avoid the round against relegation. Delémontains can now enjoy the holidays. Their next match is scheduled for Saturday January 11 with a trip to the Raron ice. /cra
