We were treated to 11 games yesterday in the National Hockey League, while 22 teams were in action.
In addition to the great 5-1 victory of the Montreal Canadiens against the Detroit Red Wings, other events caught the attention.
Here is a report of the highlights of this day.
1. A 24th goal and a 4th winning goal in overtime for Draisaitl
Leon Draisaitl, like every season, always finds himself at the top of the NHL in almost all possible offensive statistics.
And once again this season, Draisaitl is true to form, as he currently leads the entire NHL in goals with 24 goals to his name.
It was also last night that Draisaitl scored his 24th goal of the campaign, while he scored his 4th winning goal in overtime of the season.
To have already scored four game-winning goals in overtime at this point in the season is truly impressive, and it shows how important and clutch a player Draisaitl is.
Thanks to this goal, the Edmonton Oilers narrowly escaped against the San Jose Sharks by a score of 3 to 2.
It's a shame for Yaroslav Askarov, who rejected 39 of the 42 shots aimed at him.
2. Lou Lamoriello keeps a close eye on Alexander Romanov
The New York Islanders general manager is known for being pretty special throughout the National Hockey League.
Whether it's the ban on wearing a beard, or having hair that's too long, Lamoriello sticks to several such rules for his team.
And he's not just special in terms of the rules, but also just in the way he acts.
For example, last night, while former Canadian defender Alexander Romanov was preparing for his match by visualizing on the edge of the ice, we could see, a little further away, a certain Lou Lamoriello watching very intensely his Russian defender.
It's really funny to see Lamoriello so intense in his looks, when it really looks like he's spying on Romanov.
Fortunately for Romy, he had a very strong game, as he collected two assists in a 6-3 victory for the Islanders against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Note that Islanders defenseman Isaiah George, who is a native of the Toronto area, scored his first NHL goal last night.
3. Connor Hellebuyck leads the NHL with a 4th shutout this season
One of the main reasons behind the success of the Winnipeg Jets this season is between the two posts in front of the net.
Indeed, Connor Hellebuyck has been truly sensational since the start of the season, and he proved it again last night by obtaining his 4th shutout of the season.
The Jets won 5-0 against the Minnesota Wild, who therefore suffered a 4th defeat in a row.
This 4th shutout for Hellebuyck allows him to take the lead in the NHL in this regard.
4. Jonathan Huberdeau s’amuse face aux Blackhawks
Since his arrival with the Calgary Flames, things have been much more difficult for Jonathan Huberdeau.
He can't get back to the pace of production he had with the Florida Panthers, which is hurting his reputation throughout the NHL.
However, this season, even if he is not back at the same level, Huberdeau is performing well and above all better than the last two seasons.
Indeed, he has 25 points, including 13 goals, in 34 games, a production rate that will most likely allow him to record his best season with the Flames.
Moreover, 13 goals is already one more than the 12 obtained by the Quebecer in 81 games last season.
Huberdeau scored his 13th goal of the season last night, when he scored a magnificent solo breakthrough against the Chicago Blackhawks in a 6-4 victory.
In short, things are going well for Huberdeau this season, and so much the better.
5. Huge win for the Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators are currently sitting in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
This is an unusual situation for the Sens, who have been in the cellar for several seasons already.
Ottawa is currently on a very good streak, and that continued yesterday, as the Sens obtained a very big 5-4 overtime victory against the Canucks in Vancouver.
His two big points allowed the Sens to remain well established in 8th place in the East, three points ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
