And 13 for the Sabres… Reimer furious

The Buffalo Sabres' ordeal continued Saturday night with a 13th consecutive loss, a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

Lindy Ruff's poor men didn't win in December, their last victory coming on November 23rd. It's been dry since and the team continues to sink into the cellar of the Eastern Association standings.

It was a heartbreaking result for goalie James Reimer, who felt powerless on the Bruins' winning goal, scored by Morgan Geekie with 1:45 left.

The veteran was mowed down in his semi-circle by Bruins forward Justin Brazeau. However, it was a Sabers player, Mattias Samuelsson, who caused this fall. Reimer wasn't too happy, but he can't blame the officials.

Brad Marchand completed the score in an empty net. Charlie Coyle was the other scorer for the local favorites, while JJ Peterka provided the Sabres' response.

Successful return for Duclair

For Toronto, Anthony Duclair played his first game since October 19 and he obtained a point in a nice 6-3 victory for the New York Islanders over the Maple Leafs.

The Quebecer saw his season interrupted very early by a lower body injury suffered against the Montreal Canadiens. He missed 28 games, but upon his return to the game, he was complicit in a goal.

In the third period, the 29-year-old forward fed defender Isaiah George, who opened his account in the National Hockey League.

It was an excellent evening of work for Bo Horvat, author of two goals and an assist. Defenseman Alexander Romanov did well with two points, while Scott Mayfield showed a +4 differential.

The Islanders and Sabers will face each other on Monday.
