Top 14 – has fun against and gets on the podium

offered a real offensive festival in front of its Mayol audience by winning largely against the Section Paloise (56-25). An improved victory which confirms the exceptional form of the Varois, winners of their fourth consecutive match in the Top 14, the sixth in all competitions combined.

Unstoppable, the Toulonnais continue to ride on exceptional momentum. A few days after their controlled success against Glasgow in the Champions Cup, Pierre Mignoni's men impressed once again. Facing a team quickly overwhelmed by the pace and ambition, Toulon scored 56 points, setting its offensive record of the season in the process. This performance further enhances an already impressive series, consolidating the position of the Rouge et Noir among the leaders of the championship.

A thunderous start

From the first minutes, Toulon displayed its superiority, relying on a dominating scrum played by an imperial Gigashvili. The Georgian pillar put the Béarnais left-handers to torture, setting the tone for a one-sided match. Quickly, the locals took the advantage thanks to the attempts of Le Corvec and Lucchesi, accompanied by the surgical precision of Baptiste Serin on the foot. After a quarter of an hour of play, the Toulonnais were already leading 14-0.

Pau attempted a rebellion with an opportunistic try from Thibault Daubagna (14-10, 24th), but the Béarnaise improvement was short-lived. Carried by an inspired back line and an impeccable conquest, Toulon returned to the locker room with a comfortable lead (24-13), already leaving little room for suspense.

A spectacular second half

The second half was a real offensive recital for Toulonnais. Relentless, Pierre Mignoni's players played spectacular rugby, marked by speed, power, and impressive collective mastery. Dréan and Villière, each author of a double, thrilled the Var public. The evening was also marked by Kyle Sinckler's first attempt in the Top 14. The English international pillar, impeccable since his arrival in the Harbour, concluded a school collective action in the 73rd minute, confirming the euphoric nature of this evening for Toulon.

Despite some flashes, Pau was unable to resist the intensity of Toulon. The indiscipline of the Varois allowed the Béarnais to stay in the game until the hour mark, but, as is often the case this season, Sébastien Piqueronies' players ended up breaking down. The Palois sank in the last twenty minutes, conceding an avalanche of points symbolized by a clear final score.
