FC Barcelona is preparing to extend its historic partnership with Nike until 2038, consolidating a collaboration begun in 1998. This new contract will be presented this morning during an extraordinary assembly organized at the request of La Liga to improve the situation club, particularly with a view to financial fair play. Although details remain confidential, the daily Sports World reveals that this partnership will bring Barça a signing bonus of 158 million euros and average annual revenues of 127 million euros, for a total of 1.7 billion over 14 years.
Barça wants to get its head above water
This sum includes bonuses linked to the sporting performances of the men's and women's teams, without penalty in the event of absence of titles. The contract gives Nike exclusivity on technical products, while Barça regains full control of its international retail and e-commerce operations, a key victory for the club. This new agreement will also allow Barça to market its own products under the “Barça” brand, while optimizing royalties from sales made in its official stores. With this strengthened partnership, the leaders hope to revive the economic growth of the club which has been in great financial difficulty for several years.
