The convincing results achieved by the Tunisian gymnasts, during the 7th Mediterranean junior and pre-junior championship, organized from December 9 to 19 at the El Menzah Sports Palace, was an unprecedented feat for Tunisia through its various participations in this competition , indicated the National Technical Director of the Tunisian Gymnastics Federation, Nidhal Kaabachi.
In a statement to the TAP agency, the DTN stressed, Saturday, that the importance of this feat also lies in the fact that it was achieved in the presence of pioneering countries in gymnastics, expressing its conviction that the participation also allowed other Tunisian gymnasts to measure themselves against competitors of high technical level and to gain experience.
“This Mediterranean championship was an opportunity for the emergence of promising athletes, like Chahd Hosni, author of two gold medals and one silver, Nadia Friou, silver medalist, and Taha Khalil Kemiti, three-time bronze medalist,” he added.
Kaabachi also indicated that the national elite is preparing for numerous continental challenges for both seniors and young people, in all specialties (rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, aerobics, trampoline and pakcour), scheduled between April and September 2025, in addition to the Arab artistic gymnastics championship (seniors), which will take place next May, and for which Tunisia has presented its candidacy to organize it.
It should be recalled that 35 Tunisian gymnasts (9 in rhythmic gymnastics, 11 in artistic gymnastics and 15 in aerobics) took part in the 7th Mediterranean gymnastics championship, which saw the participation of 16 other countries: Turkey, Libya, Morocco, Saint -Marin, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Montenegro, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Italy, as well as two countries outside the Mediterranean basin, namely Qatar and Kuwait.
