No penalty minutes this season

When we talk about the Montreal Canadiens' best prospects, we don't necessarily think of Bogdan Konyushkov.

He plays in the KHL, he was drafted in the 4th round… and that means we don't talk about him every day.

It's different from Ivan Demidov, let's put it that way.

Kent Hughes is in Russia to spy on the attacker, but we know he is also there just to observe Demidov.

He is also there to see Bogdan, who was playing against Demidov's team yesterday during the day.

But since the start of the season, there is an interesting aspect to Konyushkov's performance: the defenseman has not yet been punished this season in the KHL.

And he played no less than 36 matches:

No punishment in 36 games… That's something.

But Bogdan is known as a disciplined player: he finished last season with only 18 penalty minutes in 65 games and that means he's responsible on the ice.

If he played in the NHL as a forward, he would be favored right now to win the Selke Trophy and the Lady Byng!

Without joke, it is certain that this aspect of his game does not go unnoticed.

The defender still has a physical style, he is able to remain legal when he wants to disturb the opponent and he never hurts his club.

Losing a defender during a numerical disadvantage hurts more than losing an attacker… And visibly, Konyushkov is making sure that his club has the best chance of winning night after night.

This is underlined, by the way.

And that's perhaps one of the reasons why he wore the “C” on his jersey on a few occasions during the last campaign.

In burst

– Wow.

– Well done.

– Logic.
