Landes victory against the Héraultais (47-32), after an offensive duel as desired (10 tries), where the two teams offered a recital in the game. The Montois above all did what was necessary in the first act with ten prolific minutes against to undisciplined Biterrois. The Landais are very close to the qualifying places now, while Béziers leaves empty for the first time this season.
Mont-de-Marsan won at home against Béziers (47-32) at the Stade André-et-Guy-Boniface for the 15th day of the Pro D2 championship.
A final effort was required from the protagonists to conclude 2024 in the best possible conditions. The Montois absolutely wanted to avoid disaster before the holidays by protecting themselves from another defeat at home, while the Biterrois could make their mark, by winning in the Landes and consolidating their place on the podium. While the two respective scorers responded to each other at the start of the match (3-3, 12th), the Montois suddenly accelerated. Massé was at the conclusion of a rapid use of the premises on an action out wide (10-3, 22nd). Lorre scored his 10th try of the season, after an inspiration from Malié in the heart of the action as a response (10-8, 28th). Not enough to contain Montois who took advantage of blatant indiscipline from the visitors (13-8, 30th).
The last ten minutes of the first act were racing. First by Tupuola upon receiving a poorly controlled dismissal by Dussoutour (13-13, 32nd). But it was said that the Landais did not want to abdicate so soon when they could have been in trouble. First Lagrange, at the conclusion of a maul driven with authority to the try line (23-13, 37th) and a convincing breakthrough from Robic on the wing, after a clear action where the Béziers tackles were lacking relief (30-13, 40th). Mons lightning had just struck the ASBH who also had to play at 14, following Van Bost's yellow card previously. The gap was notable, were the locals going to maintain such a lead, or would Béziers manage to fight back?
Mont-de-Marsan resists, Béziers is forgotten
The second act will be lively in every way. Lagivala will take advantage of a counter on Marques, to score in force a try full of conviction (37-13, 43rd). The announced lone rider will not take place, the Biterrois releasing the horses on the outside. First on a personal exploit from Anon for himself (37-18, 45th). Then by Lorre on a saving interception by Lorre and a lightning run of around forty meters (37-25, 55th). The duel was indecisive until Begic's strong attempt around three stunned Hérault defenders (44-23, 64th). Pierre Caillet's men launched the slightest ammunition and a near try was finalized by Courtaud in the corner (44-32, 69th). In vain to seek a possible defensive bonus, Du Plessis will close the evening with a final penalty, sealing the Mons success (47-32, 80th).
The Montois carried out the good operation by winning this duel against Béziers. After the defeat at Valence-Romans, experienced as a small scare, Patrick Milhet's men concluded the year with a major success. The Landais remain on the lookout for the qualifying phases and will have less pressure when they resume, for the trip to Nevers.
The Biterrois ended up losing at the Stade André-et-Guy-Boniface. A setback which in no way detracts from the first part of the season for the Héraultais which most of the time installed the ASBH among the qualified. The holidays certainly arrive at the right time to oxygenate the group and achieve certain objectives during the year 2025 with the reception in Nice to begin.
