The Montreal Canadiens’ pool of prospects is particularly full, and several seem to be slipping through the cracks, including defenseman Bogdan Konyushkov.
Chosen in the fourth round of the 2023 draft, the 21-year-old guard has been impressive since his debut in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

There is no doubt that CH fans will see him play in North America sooner rather than later, but, for the moment, the club’s management is not being more stubborn than necessary with the 6-year-old. ft.
“There is no specific development plan,” Konyushkov explained in an interview with the Responsible Gambling site. Two or three months ago they wrote to me to ask how I was doing. They also sent me video clips of an NHL defenseman.”
“Other than that, there was no communication. I don’t have such close communication with them as with Ivan Demidov.”
However, it should be understood that Konyushkov’s contract with his club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod ends at the end of the 2025-2026 season. There is therefore no pressure on the CH to make him sign an agreement for the moment.
Remember, however, that several members of the Canadiens’ staff, including general manager Kent Hughes, are in Russia to spy on the actions of striker Ivan Demidov with the Saint Petersburg SKA, and will be able to take the opportunity to watch Konyushkov’s progress, especially since Torpedo faced SKA on Thursday.
Good words for Demidov
Konyushkov was also asked about the expectations placed on Demidov, who was selected fifth overall in the most recent NHL auction by the Habs.
According to the defender, Demidov will certainly make rain or shine when he arrives in Montreal.
“I follow a lot of Montreal fans on social media and people who follow the news,” Konyushkov said. They look forward to it and constantly write about how eager they are to see it finally arrive; they even made jerseys in his name. I think he will live up to all expectations.”
In 35 games this season, the Russian native has recorded nine points. He had his best career campaign last year, posting 28 points in 65 outings.
