Club Brugge does not plan any major adjustments to its squad during the next winter transfer window. However, the club is actively seeking solutions for certain players who no longer fit into the sporting plans. Among them, Dedryck Boyata, who is clearly invited to find a new base.
Boyata, a costly and unconvincing transfer
Recruited from Hertha Berlin for a modest sum, Club Brugge nevertheless agreed to take over the entirety of the defender’s substantial salary. According to various sources, Boyata receives around 3 million euros gross per year, making him one of the best-paid players for Blauw en Zwart.
However, its performance has never justified such an investment. Unconvincing in his initial appearances, Boyata was quickly dropped from the first team. His last start dates back to February, and since this summer, he no longer even trains with the A core.
Boyata criticizes his treatment at the Club
Recently, Dedryck Boyata expressed his dissatisfaction with his situation. In a statement, he denounced “vexatious measures” taken by the club against him. “They ask me to change in a small room where the maintenance staff stores their equipment. Furthermore, I can only train in the afternoon, which prevents me from eating in the club canteen” , he confided.
Such a situation cannot last and a structural solution seems urgent for all parties involved. Ideally, this should be found during the winter transfer window.
A surprising option: a transfer to Charleroi
During the podcast Unibet FootbAll Timea surprising possibility was mentioned: a transfer of Dedryck Boyata to Sporting de Charleroi. The Zebras could indeed benefit from the contribution of an experienced defender. In addition, Carolos coach Rik De Mil knows Boyata well having worked with him at Club Brugge.
However, a major obstacle remains: salary. A transfer would only be possible if Boyata accepts a significant salary reduction or if Club Brugge agrees to cover part of his remuneration as part of a loan. As of yet, there is no indication that such discussions have been initiated.
