Joseph, who is 25 years old, was part of the Penguins organization from June 2019 until last June. The Pennsylvania team refused to submit a qualifying offer to him, which made him available on the free agent market. The Blues took the opportunity to offer him a one-year contract worth $950,000, shortly after acquiring his brother, Mathieu.

After 23 games with the Blues and two assists, he is back with the Penguins. The recent acquisition of veteran Cam Fowler by the Blues made Joseph the extra man in the team’s defensive brigade.

The Penguins, for their part, must deal with the loss of veteran defenseman Marcus Pettersson, who will be out for a few weeks with a lower body injury.

In 170 NHL games, Joseph, a former first-round draft pick of the Arizona Coyotes, had eight goals and 31 assists.
