New nugget for the Union: “At least 10 to 12 million”

After a checkered start to the season, Union SG now seems to be gaining momentum in recent weeks. The people of Brussels owe this dynamic in part to the emergence of certain summer reinforcements. One of them could ultimately bring a nice jackpot to the club.

The Union, a model on the transfer market

Since its rise in 2021, Union SG has impressed with its sporting performances. The people of Brussels have systematically finished in the top three of the final ranking in recent seasons. But their success is not limited to results: they also excel in the transfer market. Relatively anonymous players are recruited, reveal their sporting value, and then are sold for considerable sums.

Impressive offensive successes

The Union particularly struck hard in the offensive sector. Deniz Undav, for example, had been scouted in the lower divisions and is now a Germany international. His successor, Victor Boniface, recruited in Norway, helped Bayer Leverkusen win a historic double. And this summer again, Mohamed Amoura, recovered from the bench of FC Lugano, was sold with a nice capital gain to VfL Wolfsburg.

New nuggets in sight

The work of the recruitment unit therefore deserves praise. Currently, the Union still has several promising offensive talents. Promise David and Kevin Rodriguez are two diamonds in the rough who still need work, but have some potential. Same observation for Mohamed Fusseini, who will have to learn to better exploit his speed.

Franjo Ivanovic, the revelation

However, the real offensive asset this season is Franjo Ivanovic. The Croatian also needed some time to adapt, but he soon showed flashes of his talent, as evidenced by his outstanding goal at Club Brugge. In recent weeks, the 21-year-old has reached a milestone, scoring five goals in his last two matches.

A jackpot in perspective

The Union spent around 4 million euros to recruit him from HNK Rijeka. An investment that could pay off big if Ivanovic continues this momentum. “With him, the Union can hope to at least triple the stake during a resale. They will not let him leave for less than 10 to 12 million euros. Even if, in December, it remains difficult to evaluate precisely the value of a player,” said an anonymous agent in SudPresse.
