Chesnais-Girard and Bothorel call on the State to help B-Com

“A risk of abandoning the project”. In a letter sent Monday, December 16 to Bruno Bonnell, general secretary for investment, Loïg Chesnais-Girard, president of the region, and Éric Bothorel, deputy for the 5th constituency of Côtes-d’Armor (Lannion-Paimpol), express their concern about the situation in Obvios.

This satellite company of the Breton research institute B-Com – a private public research structure specializing in digital technology and based mainly in and Lannion – is expecting aid of just over 11 million euros from the State to a research project around 5G in a private loop, or “sovereign 5G”. This payment becomes “vital and urgent”, write the two elected officials in their joint letter. These are internal difficulties at the IRT which justified the suspension of aid, they recall. But an internal audit “demonstrated the proper functioning of Obvios technology” and its “development opportunities”.

“Beyond the issues of sovereignty and innovation, this project also includes the objective of securing and perpetuating jobs in Breton territory, particularly in Lannion (…) Around sixty jobs would be threatened by its delay or even its abandonment “.
