For its 40th anniversary, the Gers club of Duran (900 inhabitants) is sporting personalized jerseys, the result of a program launched by Uber Eats and the FFF which promotes amateur . Explanations.

The US Durannaise is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and couldn’t have dreamed of a better birthday present. “In blue and white, we see bigger”: the motto resonates and now marks textiles. For this year and this season, the club is returning to its roots with an outfit offered by the famous company Uber Eats (meal delivery and home shopping) and the French Football Federation.

This initiative is part of the “In our colors” program launched by the firm. This program aims to support amateur clubs by designing outfits worthy of professionals. For the second year, 50 sets of unique jerseys were offered and which will be worn this time by clubs ranging from Angoulême to via the Gers commune of Duran (900 inhabitants).

The jersey was designed by the Yard agency with the Gers club.

“We asked ourselves the question of how we could help as many clubs as possible in the most impactful way possible,” explains Clément Conti, representative of Uber Eats. Aware of the financial constraints of amateur clubs, the company has joined forces with the FFF to launch this program accessible to all. “Equipment represents 30 to 40% of an amateur club’s budget depending on the year,” he explains. And the jerseys designed are obviously worthy of the pros.

The only winning Gers team

The 50 clubs for this second season were selected from the 5,100 clubs that applied. In , only four clubs were selected, including US Durannaise, a rare privilege for this small village.

A great recognition for the Gers club, which knew how to defend its merit through a careful file. Uber Eats then imposed a few criteria: “The first is: is this a club that would really benefit from our help? […] Then, the second part is what was the club’s ability to tell their story and contextualize their presence within their community […] And finally, it’s also: why helping this club at that moment was interesting and timely?”

The club’s involvement with young people, history, opening of the discipline (eight-a-side football, leisure football, etc.): the US Durannaise ticked all the boxes to be selected. And obviously, for the players and its managers, it is a source of pride. “It’s an enhancement of the work that is done in the club,” explains the general secretary of the sports union, Julien Tremosa.

In Duran, the Armagnac lion, the club’s historic symbol, was obviously in the spotlight. “At the back of the jersey, the animal evokes the team crest, while at the front, it turns towards the sky, reflecting Duran’s constant ambition. The shades of blue and white, worked in a celestial way, remind us that the club never stops aiming higher, always between sky and cloud”, comment the designers from Yard, the creative agency which worked on the project.

On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the US Durannaise is celebrating a symbolic gift, worthy of its history. It is also a way of bringing amateur teams closer to professionals in a certain way. “It erases the differences in level and it strengthens the teams, that’s also the magic of football,” concludes Julien Tremosa.
