Vendée Globe: skipper Yoann Richomme takes the lead from Charlie Dalin after 15 days

After two weeks with skipper Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) at the head of the Vendée Globeit is the resident Yoann Richomme and his Paprec Arkéa imoca who are in first position this Tuesday morning.

Yoann Richomme had been attacking Charlie Dalin for a few days this start of crossing the Pacific Ocean and he was almost eight nautical miles ahead of his competitor at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Third, Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) was sailing 48 miles from the lead. But by 11 a.m., the gaps had narrowed : Richomme was a little over five miles ahead of Dalin and 30 miles ahead of Simon.

Dalin had moved to the head of the fleet on December 2 and was initially threatened by Simon, while Richomme was relegated more than 500 miles to the southern storm. But in recent days, Richomme showed a significantly higher average speed and returned to second place on December 14.

Furthermore, two abandonments have been officially recorded in recent hours: le Hongrois Szabolcs Weöres (New Europe) and the British Pip Hare (Medallia).
