Disqualified from the Paralympic Games, Elena Congost takes the International Paralympic Committee to court

The image was able to get people talking about it during the Games this summer. On September 8, 2024, Elena Congost finished the T12 category marathon (visually impaired athletes) of the Paris Paralympic Games in third place, synonymous with a bronze medal. But with her, her guide Mia Carol Bruguera was overcome by cramps and could no longer keep up with the athlete’s pace. To prevent her guide from falling and getting injured, the Spaniard, already Paralympic champion at the Rio Games (2016), let go of the rope allowing them to hold together.
