Broos sounds the alarm: “Look at the Circle”

Hugo Broos is the national coach of South Africa and he is doing a good job there. The Belgian technician also follows Belgian football closely. In The Sunday, he spoke about Belgian coaches. Broos made an astonishing observation.

Broos wants more Belgian coaches in JPL

“Give the Belgian coaches a chance. We will have to evolve in this direction in our country anyway when I see which coaches are coming to the clubs again,” Broos said.

South African coaches could say the same thing about their country’s national team coaches. Broos has seen JPL clubs bring in foreign coaches in recent weeks.

“As with Cercle de Bruges, I can only conclude that they called on an Austrian that no one has heard of. There are many good Belgian coaches, but you have to dare to give them a chance,” explains the experienced coach.

A good development

In the Jupiler Pro League, nine coaches are currently Belgian. So it’s more than half and it’s been much worse for years. Additionally, Ivan Leko and Besnik Hasi are also Belgian-trained coaches. Broos also indicates that Club Brugge made the right choice in appointing Nicky Hayen.

Anderlecht, which has already given a chance to a young Belgian coach with Vincent Kompany, Antwerp and Union SG have done the same. There have been years when Belgian coaches were much more discreet in the Jupiler Pro League. For now, they are still in the majority. This is a positive development.
