(Keystone-ATS) The cantonal police reported the incident to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where it is currently being examined, according to the latter.

The one-year-old rottweiler escaped from an apartment in Adlikon near Regensdorf in the canton of Zurich on a Monday evening at the end of October. He attacked two children who were playing and bit them. A five-year-old boy was seriously injured in his arms, a seven-year-old girl was seriously injured in one arm and one leg.

The dog also bit two women who had rushed to help the children, as well as a policewoman. On the orders of veterinary services, the animal was euthanized. The owner had picked up her dog a few days earlier in Germany.

Intervention filed

After the attack, the political community mobilized. In an intervention, Zurich cantonal UDF deputies want to know if the government is ready to extend the list of dangerous dogs. According to them, breeds like the Rottweiler or the Doberman should be included.

In the canton of Zurich, dogs on this list have been banned since 2010. A pit bull attack in 2005, during which a six-year-old boy was bitten to death in Oberglatt ZH, prompted the authorities to take measures .
