the worst and best draw for the Blues

The French women’s team will find out their opponents for Euro 2025 this Monday, organized in Switzerland from July 2 to 27. Despite their presence in pot 1, the Blues are far from being favorites and could fall on very heavy ground.

The French women’s team will finally know. Qualified for Euro 2025 for six months after a serious qualifying campaign which saw them finish first ahead of England, the reigning European champion, the Blues will know the menu for next summer in Switzerland (2-27 July). After yet another disappointment (elimination in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympics), the players now coached by Laurent Bonadei, who took over from Hervé Renard, are in reconstruction.

Having fallen out of the top 10 in the Fifa rankings, the French team is in pot 1 for the draw for the group stage, which will take place this Monday at 6 p.m. in Lausanne, but is not advancing as a favorite.

A reunion with the Lionesses?

11th nation in the world, is certain to avoid Switzerland (23rd in the FIFA rankings), which beat Les Bleues a few weeks ago, Germany (3rd), its executioner during the last Euro, and the world champions Spanish (2nd), who dominated them during their last match in on December 3.

On the other hand, the menu can be copious for Laurent Bonadei’s players. In hat 2, France can find the English European champions, who beat them in Newcastle during qualifying. Italy also acts as a scarecrow. In hat 3, Sweden, accustomed to performing in major competitions (European champions in 1984, double Olympic vice-champions in 2016 and 2020), and the Netherlands, winners of the Euro in 2017, are the teams to be wary of.

A rookie in hat 4?

France will inevitably meet its opponent from hat 4 for the first time in a Euro. A rising nation in women’s football, Portugal is a team to avoid in this last pot. The French have already clashed with the Portuguese during the 2023 Nations League, with two narrow victories (2-0 and 1-0). Les Bleues could come across Poland and Wales, who are participating in their first major tournament, or Finland, semi-finalist of the competition for its first participation in 2005.

The best draw for France:

France, Iceland, Belgium, Wales

The worst draw for France:
