Former international with France’s small category selections, goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf (25 years old) finally chose the Senegalese selection. At least that’s what the Stade de Reims goalkeeper suggested.
Starting goalkeeper at Stade de Reims for three seasons, Yehvann Diouf has achieved excellent performances in French Ligue 1. As in Strasbourg last week, the goalkeeper was again decisive on the pitch at the Stade Auguste-Delaune this Saturday, allowing the Rémois to grab a draw against AS Monaco (0-0). At 25, the native of Montreuil-sous-Bois is at a turning point in his career, particularly in the national team.
Having played through almost all the French youth teams with which he played until 2019, Yehvann Diouf has, it seems, finally decided to defend the colors of the Senegalese selection. He made his choice clear after this match against Monaco. “I met Pape Thiaw, we spoke, he told me he wanted to select me,” confided the former ESTAC Troyes player, interviewed in the mixed zone by Pape Seck.
While Pape Thiaw has just been confirmed by the FSF as Lions coach, Diouf could already be called up for the next Lions gathering, next March, counting for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He is ready, whatever the role entrusted to him. “Number 1, number 2, number 3, I’m here. He (Pape Thiaw) just has to call me, he has my number, he knows me. We talked a little bit. It depends on him. »
