The Jamon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium said goodbye to Jesus Navas this Saturday. The Spanish full-back will leave Sevilla FC on December 31 and it was his last home match.
Jesus Navas played his last home match for Sevilla FC this Saturday, he who will leave the club on December 31 at the age of 39. And for the occasion, the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium had reserved a magnificent tribute to him, with a tifo in his image as well as a guard of honor from his teammates and his opponents from Celta Vigo.
Navas then posed with the 8 trophies won with Sevilla FC, including four Europa League. With Manchester City he won the Premier League and the FA Cup.
In the Spanish national team, Navas has enjoyed astonishing longevity, winning the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012 and, last summer, his second Euro, once again making his return to the selection after having been absent from 2020 to 2023.
With more than 700 matches for Sevilla FC, Jesus Navas will leave as a true legend of the club and of Spanish football. This season, he alternates starts and appearances. His last match is scheduled for next Sunday, at Real Madrid – a great poster for his farewell, and the Santiago Bernabeu will certainly pay tribute to him as well.
This Saturday, a Belgian indirectly participated in this moving evening for Jesus Navas. Stanis Idumbo (19 years old), U21 international, made his fifth appearance in La Liga this season, replacing the Spaniard in the 70th minute.
