(Budapest) Canadian Summer McIntosh has one more world record to her name.

The 18-year-old swimmer from Toronto won gold in the women’s 400-meter medley at the World Short Course Swimming Championships on Saturday.
McIntosh completed the distance in four minutes 15.48 seconds, almost five seconds ahead of the next swimmer.
McIntosh shattered the previous mark of 4:18.94 set by Spaniard Mireia Belmonte and which had stood since August 2017.
This is McIntosh’s third gold medal and his third world record since the start of this competition.
It was surreal. The crowd was extra energetic tonight. There are a lot more people in the stands and feeding off that energy before the finals was a fun way to get there. I knew it would be one of the hardest world records to break.

Earlier this week, McIntosh lowered the world marks in the 400 freestyle and 200 fly.
With six career world records, she now focuses on the 200 backstroke – an addition to her international program – to close this competition on Sunday.
“Doing 4:15 was absolutely not in my wildest dreams. So overall, I’m pretty happy,” McIntosh said.
Katie Grimes of the United States won silver (4:20.14) and Abbie Wood of Great Britain (4:24.34) took bronze.
Mary-Sophie Harvey, of Trois-Rivières, finished fourth in 4:26.09.
Furthermore, Harvey secured a bronze medal for the Canadian 4 x 100 meter medley relay team.
The last Canadian representative to dive into the pool after Ingrid Wilm, Ilya Kharun and Finlay Knox, Harvey stopped the clock in 3:31.97, a Canadian record.
After the fifth of six days of competition, Canada has a total of 13 medals, four gold, three silver and six bronze.
Kharun (1-3-1) and Wilm (0-2-3) lead the delegation with five medals. McIntosh (3-0-1), Harvey (1-0-3) and Knox (0-2-2) have four.
