Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron had a narrow escape, as a skate left him with an impressive scar on his neck.
The incident occurred Thursday when Dallas Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel lost his balance, hitting the former Montreal Canadiens player very high. McCarron quickly reacted by removing his glove to put his hand to his neck before retreating to the locker room.
It was only on Saturday that the extent of the damage could be seen. The skate hit the 6’6″ colossus in the jaw and neck. More fear than harm for the accident victim, his cut only required a few stitches to close.
The photo taken by Nashville radio host Max Herz is still pretty scary. McCarron believes that a neck protector would not have prevented this injury.
The 29-year-old American has four points in 22 games this season.
