To discuss the common boundaries between sport et arbitrage commercial as part of the 8th edition of “Casablanca Arbitration Days 2024”, a meeting was held on Friday December 13 with the refereeing legend, Pierluigi Hillpresident of the FIFA Referees Committee.

During this first day of the event organized by Casablanca Finance City (CFC) and the Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Center (CIMAC), Pierluigi Collina spoke, as part of an exchange with the economist Abdelmalek Alaouithe start of his career and its essence.

It started “by coincidence”, when a classmate of Perluigi Collina offered to accompany him to an arbitration course in Bologna (Italy), with a simple “why not?”… was there ago 47 ans.

In his job, during which he had to analyze everything down to the smallest detail to be able to decide situations favorable to one team and unfavorable to the other, Perluigi Collina faithfully applied his mantra: “Always be one step ahead ”.

For him, “you shouldn’t be surprised by something unexpected. You have to prepare all week to know what to expect.”

In addition, he emphasizes that certain skills are necessary for a referee who must, moreover, be talented. It’s about serious commitment, hard work and preparation to handle a difficult mission, “especially in big games”.

It is a way of understanding sports arbitration which, as Abdelmalek Alaoui points out, is likened to arbitration between two multinationals or even between two States.
