And Friday the 13th December which Damien Seguin (Apicil Group) will remember.
In the evening, the disabled sports skipper heard a big noise on his Imoca. The anchoring of a chainplate was torn off “under the effect of a strong gust”, leaving a hole in the hull.
Ejected during repairs
While he was in his first attempt at repair, Damien Seguin was thrown against a candlestick.
A shock to the neck and ear causing slight bleeding slowed down the skipper in the repair of his boat.
Pain, “even a sprained knee”, according to the skipper, could hamper Damien Seguin for the rest of his Vendée Globe.
Successful repairs
Despite the setbacks suffered by the 45-year-old skipper, he managed to repair his Imoca during a second repair attempt.
On his social networks, the skipper published a video to recount his misadventures.
“I haven't had very nice moments in the last few hours,” comments Damien Seguin, equipped witha neck brace.
“This is not the situation I would have dreamed of finding myself in at this time of the race, nor at any other time for that matter,” concludes the skipper who continues his adventure around the world.
