Charles Leclerc admitted this evening during the FIA gala, where he came to collect his trophy for 3rd place, that despite the disappointment of a missed constructors’ title at the last race of the season for Ferrari, he draws a very positive from his 2024 season. The Monegasque has no regrets about the progress and results of this year.
“It’s been a positive season, disappointing because when you fight for a title at the last race and you fail, it hurts. But looking at it, I think we had a good season” Leclerc said.
“It’s the first since I’ve been in F1 for which I don’t have regrets, or that I don’t say to myself that we could have done much better in a race or that we missed a big opportunity “We won every race we could win and that’s a great accomplishment.”
“We weren’t fast enough to win either championship, however we had a very strong second half of the season and we need to use that momentum to do a better job and fight for both titles.”
He thinks that with a full season at the level of the end of 2024, the titles are accessible: “I think so. Because in the first part of the season, we were not close to McLaren or Red Bull. Red Bull was dominant at the start, then it was McLaren, and it was only in Monaco that we dominated in Australia, Carlos took advantage of a problem for Max.
Leclerc will welcome Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, and he can’t wait to test himself against the seven-time world champion: “He has achieved so much, and in several teams. And now that he comes to Ferrari with all this experience and knowledge, he will be able to push the team.
“And he’s going to push me too, that’s for sure. With his talent, I’m going to look at the data and see that what he can do in the car, I can also do since we will have the same car. It will be a big challenge and I’m very motivated.”
