Penne-d’Agenais. A 33rd season has just ended for the Escapade MTB club

Under the presidency of Sébastien Berthoumieux, the Escapade Exited Riders club held its general meeting in the presence of Emelyne Rey, representing the deputy Guillaume Lepers, Gérard Muller, representing the mayor of Penne Arnaud Devilliers, Aline Vidal, representing the mayor of Saint-Sylvestre Yann Bihouée, and many licensees. Membership which remains stable with 52 members including 50 licensees. A sport that is practiced in several ways: participation in other clubs’ hikes, club outings, organization of weekends for members, participation in departmental, regional and national mountain bike, cyclo-cross and cyclo sport competitions. As well as a school for young mountain bikers and the preparation of competitors. Club outings take place on Sunday mornings on the trails of Penne-d’Agenais and the surrounding area. For its 13th year of existence, the training of young mountain bikers continues its progress and its development. In the 2023-2024 season, 15 young people coming mainly from Penne and St-Sylvestre, but also from other municipalities in the canton and Fumélois have deepened their knowledge of mountain biking. Numerous events in 2024, including the organization of a kik bike in Frespech in June and another in Frespech in June, Hiking Day in Penne-d’Agenais on April 1, a round of challenge 47 in Auradou on April 28, a cyclo-cross in Penne on December 30. At the start of the year, the club will move into its new premises in Férié, opposite the Jules Jacques room. A partnership is planned with the municipality for the development of a trials course next to the premises. In conclusion, Sébastien Berthoumieux recalled that the club, created in 1990 by a handful of pioneers, had passed its 30th anniversary (33 years) and continues its presence on the local, departmental, regional and national mountain bike scene. “A common thread has guided us: the interest of the club and the pleasure of each person. Our longevity is due to the commitment and motivation of members, volunteers and local communities.”
