At the moment, Patrik Laine is well regarded in Montreal. He couldn’t save the CH yesterday, but his first three goals of the season made the difference in the Flanelle’s three most recent victories.
But we know that Laine has not always had it easy in recent years.
The Finn is known to love video games and we can clearly assume that it has not always been easy for him to manage his desire to spend long hours in front of a screen.
But here is an anecdote that says a lot.
Jeff Marek and Greg Wyshynski on the Sheets podcast talked a little about how Laine acted early in his career, when he was on the road with the Winnipeg Jets. The site HabsolumentFan reported the news.
Basically, when he came back to the hotel after a match, he didn’t go out with the others: he would go play Fortnite for hours. And when he found that the TV in his room was too small, he arranged to get a bigger one.
Jeff Marek assumes that someone from the Jets was going to buy it for him. He didn’t specify who was picking up the bill, though.
When Laine finished playing, he left the TV there. So we imagine that the hotel was stuck with a big TV (which is a problem that I would like to inherit, let it be said) without really knowing what to do.
Note that Wyshynski confirms that it happened like this in Winnipeg.
I don’t know to what extent the Finn still plays a lot of Fortnite and video games in general, but it’s clear that buying a TV in every city he goes to is not healthy.
Let’s hope for him that things go better in 2024. As a human, we have to wish him that.
