Beck is making his first steps in professional hockey after three productive seasons in junior and winning the Memorial Cup. So far, the 20-year-old Ontarian knows how to make himself appreciated.

Responsible both offensively and defensively, efficient in the faceoff circles and a hard worker, he leaves nothing to chance. It points to 19e rank in the American League with his seven goals and 20 points, including four victories, and ranks fourth among rookies. Two of these were also selected in the first round of the 2022 auction.

Give the show

In , Beck savors his moments learning at high speed.

“Every night, we want to put on a show. We play in front of 10,000 people who love hockey and want to see good results. It’s nice. It’s also a good way to manage pressure by focusing on your game,” explains the striker known for his reliability.

According to Vincent, Beck ticks the fundamental boxes of development. He works, he shows a good attitude and he is a good teammate.

“I recently talked to him about his skating, his passing and his execution. He immediately got to work in training, says the coach. If he moves his feet and moves the puck quickly with good execution, he is successful.

“He is physically strong for his age,” he added about the man who added around fifteen pounds to his frame during the off-season.

“He skates, he excels at faceoffs, he can play on the flanks with a power play, position himself at the top of the slot, at the goal line, etc.,” he also added about one that looks like a real Swiss army knife.

Jewel to polish

But soon the coach signaled that he will have to tweak and refine the jewel intended for the Canadian’s attack, so that it flows even better down the funnel towards the NHL. It is still too early to predict his destiny in the Habs’ offensive game.

“We have to find a niche for it. He does the right things, he works hard and wants to be led correctly. He is a player who excels on both sides of the ice and on the power play. We will have to cut the fat and better define our game,” explains Vincent.

All this, in the hope of solidifying the foundation of its main qualities and eventually establishing itself in Montreal and experiencing success there.

For Beck, this eventuality will depend on the quality of his skating, his hard work and the quality of his execution.
