in the Champions League: The Stade de in the crosshairs

Stade Brestois is considering a move to Stade de France for the Champions League play-offs.

Guaranteed to continue his European journey after his victory against PSV Eindhoven (1-0), the Brest Stadium considers a strategic change. The club could migrate to a prestigious venue for the final stages of the Champions League.

A European first at Roudourou

Stade Brestois played its group stage matches at Roudourou, the venue of En Avant Guingamp. This temporary solution, although adequate, has limitations. With a modest capacity and a distance from the heart of Brest, Roudourou does not fully reflect the ambitions of the Finistère club. However, qualifying for the play-offs offers new opportunities.

The Stade de France: An accessible dream

According to information reported by The Team, Brest leaders have taken steps with those responsible for the Stade de France. This legendary venue with 80,000 seats would represent an ideal setting for hosting the biggest European clubs. Denis Le Saint, president of Stade Brestois, wants to make history by offering his supporters a unique experience.

However, several obstacles remain. Renting the Stade de France involves high costs. Such a decision will therefore depend on the draw of the play-offs and the prestige of the opponent.

Regional alternatives explored

If it is impossible to play in Saint-Denis, Brest is exploring other regional solutions. The first option is Roazhon Park ()modern and well located, this stadium could be a realistic option. Or else, the club can continue Roudourou (Guingamp). An improvement of the facilities would make it possible to host large-scale European meetings. On the other hand, Beaujoire (), despite its qualities, was not considered by the Brest leaders.

Between now and the play-offs, Stade Brestois will have to decide on its choice of stadium. UEFA requires that once this milestone has been reached, no change of venue will be authorized. This constraint reinforces the strategic importance of this decision, which could impact the club’s atmosphere and sporting results.

With this historic qualification, Brest offers itself the opportunity to shine on the European scene. The choice of stadium, whether local or national, will play a crucial role in the continuity of this exceptional epic.
