Fired by Morocco, Vahid Halilhodžić could be rehabilitated!

Algeria
– The president of the normalization commission who currently heads the Tunisian Football Federation, Kamel Idir, is immersed in crucial issues before leaving office next January. Among these priorities is the appointment of the next coach of the Tunisian national team, a strategic decision aimed at preparing the Carthage Eagles for the major events to come. It’s about Vahid Halilhodžić, who was fired by Morocco, in Tunisia.

In a recent interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Kamel Idir stressed that the future coach must have solid experience in African football, having already participated in a World Cup or having managed a renowned European team. These criteria made it possible to narrow down the options to a few prestigious names at the top of the list.

According to a source close to the normalization commission, Idir began discussions around two months ago with the agent of Marc Wilmots, a Belgian coach who led his country’s national team from 2012 to 2016. Wilmots also has experience African, having been at the head of Ivory Coast and Raja Casablanca, in addition to having coached the Iranian national team and held the position of sports director at Schalke 04, in Germany.

Wilmots’ profile seems to match the expectations of the Tunisian Federation, and the Belgian coach is very enthusiastic about taking on this challenge. However, it will face strong competition. Among the other candidates, Vahid Halilhodžić, a 72-year-old Bosnian technician, occupies a prominent place. Halilhodžić, who has already been contacted by the commission, is considered Kamel Idir’s favorite due to his past successes with the national teams of Algeria and Morocco.

In his interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Kamel Idir clarified that the negotiations are being carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which will finance the future contract. “We started chatting with several foreign profiles. It is imperative for us to recruit a European coach with expertise in Africa and the World Cup to prepare the team for major competitions,” said Idir. He also criticized the current state of Tunisian coaches: “Honestly, what can we expect from local coaches? We must aim for excellence by calling on a high-level foreign technician. »

The choice of the next coach is of capital importance for the future of the Tunisian national team. With competitions such as the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers in its sights, the Federation hopes to find a leader capable of meeting these challenges and taking the Carthage Eagles to the pinnacle of African football and global.

The final decision is expected in the coming weeks, as the standardization commission works to complete this file before the end of its mandate. Whether it is Marc Wilmots, Vahid Halilhodžić or another candidate, the choice must meet the high expectations of Tunisian supporters, who hope to see their team shine on the international stage.
