: The European adventure continues for the VNVB

VNVB coach André Sa feared a difficult evening with a Slovenian team who came to Vandoeuvre with nothing to lose following their 3 sets to 0 defeat in the first leg. But if there was a little doubt, it was swept away in 15 minutes, like the hopes of the visiting team, by an incredible start to the match from the Vandoperians. Score of the 1st round 25-6! Half of the way was done because the VNVB only needed to win 2 sets, thanks to the score of the first leg, to qualify.

Spectators at the sports park did not have to wait long. Despite a 2nd set no longer hooked because of an opposing surge, the Vandoperian players did what was necessary very seriously by winning the 2nd round 25-21. Qualification in hand, the essentials were already done, but this team does not want to leave anything…

Coach André Sa, objective fulfilled with the qualification, took the opportunity to involve the whole group with young players who sometimes play less who played the 3rd set. Tied at 20 all, he brought back a few senior players who completed the set (25-20).

For the next round, it will be sort of a play-off match back and forth and if they qualify, the Vandoperians will then be in the quarter-finals, with certain teams transferred from the Champions League. “We want even more” said coach André Sa when President Patrick Venturini smiled. “I don’t know where the girls and André are taking us, but I’m following them and I hope everyone will follow us”, visibly the 1800 spectators at the sports park last night are ready to continue too.
