Inter Miami wants to recruit Neymar to recreate the MSN

The boss of Inter Miami spoke about his plan to sign Neymar to reunite him with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, the trio which has long constituted the “MSN”, making the heyday of FC Barcelona.

Neymar has been linked with a move away from Saudi side Al-Ahli who no longer wish to keep him as he has spent more time in the infirmary than on the pitch.

Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas says the Major League team has an unlimited budget for the upcoming transfer window and wants to sign Neymar from Saudi side Al-Ahli.

“We are ambitious. If there is ever a possibility of bringing in a player of Neymar’s caliber, we will not hesitate. It doesn’t just depend on me. It depends on the player and the league. But yes, we aspire to build a great team here”he declared.

Neymar is going through a difficult period in his career as his transfer to the Saudi league was a complete failure, mainly due to injuries. A torn knee ligament cost him a year, starting in October 2023, but upon his return he has now suffered another hamstring injury.

For his part, Lionel Messi said he maintains close contact with his former teammate via Whatsapp chat. He also said that he would like to have him back in his team, but at the moment it is complicated. “It’s difficult now,” he said in a June interview:

” I don’t know. The truth is that now it’s difficult. He is in Saudi Arabia and I think he has one year left on his contract (until June 2025). He had a difficult year, during which he was injured for a long time. So it’s difficult now. After that, I don’t know. Life takes so many turns that anything can happen, but I think, for now, no”.

Neymar and Messi have played together in 206 matches for Barcelona (2013-2017) and Saint-Germain (2021-2023), recording 67 joint goals. At Barcelona they created the trident with Luis Suarez winning the continental treble in 2014-15. In fact, if Neymar manages to join Inter Miami, he will become the only player to have shared a dressing room with Lionel Messi at three different clubs. He would also reunite with other former FC Barcelona teammates such as Sergio Busquets.
