THE SPORT SCAN – On December 4, for the inauguration of a track in her name in Cossé-le-Vivien, “Marie-Jo” was also treated to a fresco in her image, which is not to the taste of the inhabitants of the town mayenne.
As reported by France Bleu Mayenne, a fresco by Marie-José Pérec is causing controversy in Cossé-le-Vivien, in Mayenne. For the inauguration of an athletics track in her name, the triple Olympic champion was also treated to a fresco with her image representing her at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
However, the work created by a graphic designer from Laval greatly displeases the residents of the town, who have the impression of seeing a man in the fresco.
Maxime Dunas, the author of the fresco, wanted to make a mea culpa by recognizing a “missed” on the face of «Marie-Jo». “I immediately felt that compared to the initial photo, there was not a total resemblance to the face, that’s for sure. There it is, it happens. I don’t claim to have oversized talent or an ego, much less. So, I take criticism, I listen”
It must be said that the request was not simple, Dunas had to create the fresco in four hours and on the wall of a clubhouse. “The surface area of the wall is not that big for a spray job. As a result, I had some technical complications, let’s just say. I’m not a facial professional. I had a little stress before doing it,” confessed the graffiti artist.
Despite everything, he was thanked by the mayor of Cossé-le-Vivien, Christophe Langouët, who ensures that the French champion said she was satisfied with his fresco. The artist announced that he will make retouches during the week on the face of The Gazelle.
