CAF organizes a workshop on the development of African talents with the involvement of Diambars and Génération Foot

On December 4, 2024, CAF organized a meeting dedicated to academies in Cairo, Egypt, bringing together development experts from across Africa. This event, which marks the start of a series of initiatives, aims to strengthen the foundations of African football by placing emphasis on the training of young talents.

Diambars and Génération Foot, emblematic figures of football training in Senegal, were among the prestigious invited academies, alongside recognized institutions such as Al Ahly, RS Berkane, and the Right to Dream Academy, Right to Dream, Zed FC Academy, Kaizer Chiefs, Brasseries du Cameroun Football School. Véron Mosengo-Omba, CAF Secretary General, underlined the importance of this workshop: “Youth football is a priority for CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe. Academies play a key role in talent development. It is essential to create a conducive framework to encourage the progress of young players, in collaboration with FIFA. »

Among the proposals emerging from this workshop are the organization of national and regional tournaments for academies, classified by age categories, in order to provide competitive platforms for young talents. These initiatives should help accelerate their development and harmonize training approaches across the continent. The conclusions of this meeting will be presented to the President of CAF and the Executive Committee for validation. They aim to strengthen African football’s commitment to developing young players, while setting high standards for academies across Africa.
