Tedesco ignores a forgotten Belgian: “The best this season”

The Red Devils are looking to string together good results. Coach Domenico Tedesco is testing many players, but some options seem overlooked. Among them, veterans like Michy Batshuayi, Christian Benteke and Dries Mertens could strengthen the attack, but a “forgotten Belgian” stands out in midfield.

Nicolas Raskin, an eclipsed talent

Since his transfer from Standard Liège to Rangers in January 2023, Nicolas Raskin has established himself as a fan favorite under Philippe Clement. At 23, the midfielder is shining in Scotland, even if his name seems to have fallen off the radar of the Red Devils. In Rangers’ thumping 6-0 win over Kilmarnock, Raskin was man of the match. So, is Tedesco turning a blind eye or do the Devils actually have better options in the middle?

A difficult season for Clement and the Rangers

The Rangers are going through a complicated period under Philippe Clement, who is under great pressure. Despite everything, the team demonstrated its strength in the championship. During the recent big victory, Cyriel Dessers (ex-KRC Genk) scored twice, while Raskin (ex-Standard) stood out with an assist. Despite a mixed season for the club, Raskin remains one of the essential executives of the squad.

In the league, Rangers occupy a disappointing third place with 29 points, behind Aberdeen (33 points) and the undisputed leader Celtic (40 points). But for fans, Raskin is the best player on the team this season. Could the door of the Red Devils open for him?

A profile that the Red Devils lack

Under contract until 2027 and with an estimated market value of 6.5 million euros, Raskin is known for his combative temperament. Already at Standard, he had demonstrated his energy and his sacred fire, qualities currently absent among certain Red Devils.

Many players struggle to find the motivation to give their all for the national team. Stars like Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne have often missed rallies to concentrate on their club careers. Conversely, Raskin seems ready to take up the challenge and make his debut in the Devils jersey.
