Mahrez, “I’m not Messi!” »

After yesterday’s 2-2 draw at home in the Asian Champions League, Riyad Mahrez responded to the press that he could not make the difference alone.

Iranian club Esteghlal held Al Ahl to a draw in Jeddah with a score of 2-2 and Riyad Mahrez was quite good, finding the crossbar at the start of the match then seeing the goalkeeper step in front of him in the second.
Despite the fact that Al Ahli remains first and undefeated in the competition, the Saudi press has once again been critical of him as the technical leader of the team, accusing him of not being the same as Manchester City.
The green captain responded; « You can’t compare City is here,, everyone has to play well. I’m a team player, I’m not Messi, I can’t take the ball and go alone. If the team plays well, I play well. We didn’t play that well today.”
Asked about not having taken the two penalties, he said, “I left Toney because he is a scorer, he takes penalties well. Sometimes I can shoot, there is no competition between us.”
