Dugarry is frightened by the level of play proposed by De Zerbi!

Despite the 2-1 victory of Olympique de (OM) against AS Monaco last Sunday, Christophe Dugarry, consultant on RMC, expressed his doubts about the level of play of the team led by Roberto De Zerbi. Although OM has a record of 26 points in 13 matches, the best start since Bielsa in 2014, Duga remains very critical of the performance of the Marseillais.

Dugarry begins by recognizing OM's good start, emphasizing the importance of supporter support: “It’s a relief, I’m sure. That the supporters are behind the players, so much the better because having a season with the supporters against you is terrible. » However, the victory against Monaco was not enough to convince the former striker. He describes the match as “catastrophic” and deplores a Marseille performance marked by technical errors and a lack of rhythm: “I found that to be a weakness, it’s playing ball. »

I found that a weakness, it plays ball

The consultant also points out the slowness of the game and the tendency to multiply backwards passes. “The left side is slow, he doesn't have the level with Rabiot who is even slower than him. » He particularly criticizes Adrien Rabiot et Mason Greenwoodwho, according to him, accumulated technical faults: “The number of technical fouls from Rabiot and Greenwood, Monaco gives them the match. » Dugarry believes that the two goals scored by OM are primarily due to defensive errors by Monaco and not to any real offensive action by Marseille: “Even the two goals they are not going to get them, there are two grotesque mistakes from the Monegasques. »

A lack of offensive initiative

Dugarry also deplores the lack of creativity and verticality in OM's game. According to him, the team too often settles for lateral passes and lacks offensive initiative: “There is a problem in midfield, it plays too sideways, the play in the corridors is insignificant. There's nothing, I didn't see anything! »

In conclusion, despite an important victory, Dugarry remains skeptical about OM's level of play, believing that the team must improve its fluidity and its offensive play to confirm its ambitions in Ligue 1.
