N3: “I’m not used to scoring,” assures Walid Bouaziz, scorer for his first match with GSI Pontivy

N3. GSI Pontiva

You score for your first tenure with the GSI. Could you dream of better?

Honestly, I didn’t expect it at all. I’m not used to scoring. It was a good match overall. The goal came naturally. There is a cross which arrives at the penalty spot and I score. I’m happy because I had missed a somewhat similar opportunity ten minutes before.

What is your background?

I was born in Saint-Brieuc and trained at Stade Briochin. I started my first senior season with B in N3. I performed well and started to join the N1 training group. I made a few appearances there. Last year, I also played a little in N2 but mainly in N3.

How did you come to Pontivy?

I have been without a club since the end of last season. But I didn’t give up. I knew that football was made like that and that this kind of period could happen. It was a mental test and you had to be ready for it. I trained with Quessoy. I thank coach Gwen Toanen who reached out to me. With the GSI, I did a one-week trial which went well. The coach really liked my profile. GSI was a very good opportunity for me. It’s a good club that I’ve heard a lot of good things about. There is a quality of play sought by the coach.

With what ambition do you come to GSI?

My goal is to play a series of matches and get back into rhythm. It’s been seven months since I last played. I didn’t do any real preparation. My goal is to perform well, be physically well, be consistent and help the team as much as possible by being efficient.
