: Yverdon has still not found the key to success

Last season, on the occasion of his return to the Super League, Yverdon could count on a sort of all-risk insurance. We are talking about his propensity to be uncompromising at home, where the North Vaudois club had secured most of its points – 40 out of a total of 47 -, which did not fail to impress.

Except that this advantage seems to have disappeared since the start of this championship, with a record already much more balanced (3 victories against as many defeats and a draw). Hence the ambition to reconquer the municipal stadium during the reception of FC Lucerne. So much for the intention, certainly laudable, at the kick-off. The problem is that, when faced with reality, its implementation turned out to be much more dangerous. With the result, a new defeat which, after its previous failures suffered against Lausanne and Basel in front of its public, could bring Yverdon closer to the red zone following the other verdicts of this 16th day, in particular those of GC and Winterthur.

One-sided, the first period was already going to be summed up in a long Lucerne monologue. It will even take a saving reflex from Bernardoni, pushing back with his foot in front of his line a recovery from Klidje (32nd), to save his team. From Yverdon, incapable of getting the ball out cleanly and showing himself as light as terribly disappointing in his offensive production, we will especially remember the pyrotechnic festival offered by his kop on the occasion of the 3 years of the local section. A sign of this indigence, we will have to wait… 41 minutes before seeing the first and only Vaudois shot of the initial 45 minutes. An “exploit” born from the feet of Rodrigues but which should hardly have worried Loretz. A visitor failing to exploit his domination, a host offering little or nothing, everyone will agree that all this did not fly very high.

What Lucerne did not get in the game was ultimately to come from a set ball, in this case a penalty whistled by Mr. Schärer following an indisputable foul by Marques on Dorn – Rrhudani’s foot did not tremble to ensure this transformation (54th). At the right time, Mangiarratti decided to launch a returnee in the person of Varol Tasar who had been absent from the pitch since February 24 following his torn cruciate ligaments. The only light in the grayness.

However, this did not change the outcome of a match in which Yverdon never gave the impression of having really entered, apart from a late deviation from… Bernardoni, who boarded in stoppage time to regain a corner from Tasar (93rd). So we will remember that YS’s best opportunity was the prerogative of its goalkeeper, which is not far from being a shame. For the Vaudois, this third loss in a row at home reflects their growing difficulty in being dangerous.

From Wednesday in the Cup, with the arrival of Lugano, Yverdon will have to show a completely different face to hope to secure a ticket for the quarters. As it stands, it’s hard to see how.
