Olympic champion last August at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games under the colors of Algeria, Kaylia Nemour now has the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games in its sights.
In the meantime, she continues the competition with her French club Avoine-Beaumont. A new challenge awaits him with his team for the new 2024-2025 season which started this Saturday, November 30.
Avoine-Beaumont relies heavily on the Algerian Olympic champion to dethrone the Meaux club, title holder of the Top 12 of women’s artistic gymnastics (GAF) in France.
The elite French gymnastics competition began this Saturday.
Last season, the final of the 12 GAF was played between the teams of Meaux and Saint-Lô. It ended with the victory of Meaux.
Kaylia Nemour and Avoine-Beaumont did not take part because of the affair which pitted the club against the French Gymnastics Federation (FFG) and which caused Avoine-Beaumont to lose its training club label, a condition for take part in the Top 12.
Kaylia Nemour: here is what awaits her for her return to competition in France
The club had then evolved in the antechamber of the elite. Before losing the label, the Avoine-Beaumont girls had outrageously dominated the elite competition, finishing first in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Kaylia Nemour found herself at the center of a standoff between her club and the federation which refused her the right to return to competition after knee surgery in 2021, at the age of 14.
To be able to resume her career, the gymnast opted, not without the opposition of the FAG, for the Algerian sporting nationality with the success that we know.
This season, Kaylia Nemour and her club are returning to the elite of French gymnastics. Many hopes are placed in the Algerian champion to make her club shine as she did for Algeria at the Olympic Games last summer. The challenge for the Algerian is to put her club back in its true place.
The competition will take place in a first phase in a system of four pools. Kaylia Nemour and her team inherited the Colomiers and Saint-Etienne clubs in pool 2. The group stage will run until the end of February while the semi-finals and final will play on March 15 and 29, 2025.
