Arsenal won a goal-rich London derby on Saturday at West Ham (2-5) to snatch second place from Manchester City, the quadruple defending champion in great danger before facing leader Liverpool on Sunday.
Arsenal (2nd, 25 points) comes back six lengths from Liverpool (1st, 31 pts) and doubles Manchester City (4th, 23 pts), expected Sunday at Anfield for the summit of the 13th day.
At the London stadium on Saturday, the “Gunners” rolled over West Ham during a spectacular first period, ending at 2-5, then they managed their lead after the break.
They led 0-4 on goals from Gabriel (10th), Leandro Trossard (27th), Martin Odegaard (34th on penalty) and Kai Havertz (36th), before being surprised twice in two minutes, by Aaron Wan- Bissaka (38) and Emerson (40th).
A penalty from Bukayo Saka (45th + 5) gave Arsenal a three-goal lead just before half-time.
Mikel Arteta’s team hit a low point in the Premier League with four matches without a win, nor many goals scored (only three), before the November international break.
But since the restart, it has returned to victory in large proportions, whether against Nottingham Forest (3-0), Sporting Portugal (5-1) and now West Ham, fourteenth in the Premier League.
