The Montreal Canadiens are in Manhattan this afternoon to face the New York Rangers.
The Habs are coming to town while the Rangers are in the midst of some turmoil. Not only is the Blueshirts organization rocked by a variety of trade rumors that don’t make everyone happy, but the team has just lost five games in a row.
The score is 3 to 2 for the Rangers in the third period.

Martin St-Louis’ men will undoubtedly seek to avenge the bitter 7-2 defeat that the Rangers inflicted on them during their last clash, on October 22 at the Bell Centre. Poor goalkeeper Samuel Montembeault had a particular taste of it that evening, conceding four goals in a few minutes of the first period, completely left to his own devices by his teammates.
“During this match, we didn’t play our way, it wasn’t us,” Kaiden Guhle mentioned yesterday on the sidelines of the team’s training.
“We owe Samuel a good match,” he then said.
It’s Montembeault who is in front of the Habs net today. The lineup is likely to be similar to the one that faced the Jackets a few days ago. Veteran defenseman Mike Matheson, who missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, returns to the lineup and forms a duo with Lane Hutson. Jayden Struble is left out.
