Due to a lack of sufficiently cold conditions, the organizers of the Tremblant PwC World Cup were forced to cancel the events on Saturday.
The Laurentians were to welcome the best skiers in the world on December 7 and 8 for a stage of the world circuit. Seventy-two athletes were to compete on the slopes of Mont Tremblant in giant slalom.
However, “the cold windows of the last few days have been insufficient to create the required snow cover,” explained the organizers in a press release.
“The safety of athletes, staff and volunteers is our primary concern. Despite the hard work of the Tremblant team and volunteers, the snow conditions are not suitable for the World Cup races,” indicated the race director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation. (FIS), Peter Gerdol.
The president and CEO of Alpine Canada, Thérèse Brisson, stressed that Tremblant wanted to host the World Cup in December 2025.
“I know this is disappointing news for everyone involved. The Tremblant organizing committee, employees and volunteers were extraordinarily well prepared and did everything they could,” she said.
Ticket holders will be automatically refunded over the next few days.
The next World Cup stop will be Beaver Creek, USA, from December 11-15.
