Anderlecht has closed the accounts for the 2023/2024 season. And Sporting is in the green.
Anderlecht’s shareholders have had to make major financial efforts in recent years to enable the club to continue to field a competitive team despite lean periods.
Today they are happy to announce a net profit of more than one and a half million (1,588,290 euros). The first positive result for the club since the 2016-2017 season…that of the last title.
And yet, the figure could not be inflated by revenues from European football, which Sporting only tasted again this season. The press release (read in full via this link) first highlights the commercial successes, particularly with regard to the stadium’s 98% occupancy rate.
The transfer of Zeno Debast not yet taken into account
But as is often the case in Belgian football, transfers also play an important role. We will thus point to the 20 million from the sale of Bart Verbruggen a year and a half ago and the percentage received from Rennes on the transfer of Jérémy Doku to Manchester City. The reduction in salaries also contributed to the good financial results.
“Getting the club back on track financially has not been an easy task. I am pleased that the efforts of the shareholders over recent years, together with the commitment and discipline of the management, are now resulting in the positive annual accounts. I would like to thank all the members of the club. A solid financial basis is essential to continue our path to the top in the years to come” rejoices President Wouter Vandenhaute.
